Come help us "rebuild history" on the Deschutes National Forest this summer! Paulina Lake is located within the caldera of Newberry Volcano, which makes up the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. It was here that a group of citizens banded together in the early 1800s to found the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows in North America. Odd Fellows are committed to the principles of 'Friendship, Love and Truth,' which they practice through charitable acts and managing fellowship lodges. Paulina Lake is the site of a group of these IOOF cabins that need some TLC, and we need your help! PIT volunteers will join HistoriCorps to preserve the Odd Fellows Cabins this summer. HistoriCorps will provide all meals (except the night of August 30th), tools, training, equipment, and a campsite or shared indoor lodging. Volunteers must bring: a minimum of six (6), reusable face masks (due to COVID-19 requirements), gloves, sturdy work clothes and boots, and appropriate sleeping equipment. Please plan to arrive no earlier than 6:00 pm and no later than 8:00 pm the first day of the project. We will only accept applications untill all slots are filled, so apply today!
