Come on back to Kentucky Camp! We are seeking friendly and independent caretakers for one site on the Coronado NF – historic Kentucky Camp. At the site, caretakers will be responsible for greeting the public and answering questions. Caretakers are also responsible for maintenance (e.g., adobe patching, light carpentry, grounds-keeping, cleanup of the facilities, etc.) and work with FS archaeologists on stabilization and interpretive projects. Amenities available may vary; detailed information will be provided to those volunteers selected for the project. Each session will run for one full month. Applicants must be able to commit to the full time period and, dependent upon staffing needs and availability, are welcome to participate in additional sessions.

This project will recruit only until all sessions are filled, so apply today!

Number of openings: 9 (1 person, couple or family per session)

Special skills: Must be self-reliant and willing to work independently after orientation; preference given to those interested in history and willing to communicate with the public; general handyperson skills required

Minimum age: 18 years old

Facilities: RV/trailer provided for caretakers; hookups; queen bed in upper alcove, smaller bunks in rear bedroom; bath and kitchen facilities; pots, pans, utensils; volunteers responsible for own bed/bath linens, food, toiletries, regular trash disposal (no trash pick-up onsite), and transportation

Other facilities vary; detailed information will be provided to selectees during the selection process.
