Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest hosts volunteers for PIT project
Eighteen volunteers contributed 656 hours during a week-long project to process hundreds of artifacts from archaeological excavations on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Volunteers joined Forest archaeologists in the Boxes from the Bowels III Passport in Time project. Several local volunteer veterans have been working with the Forest for the past four years on artifacts from sties including the “Tin War” military maneuver site in Strawberry Valley and Forest City mining town site in American Fork Canyon. The project was conducted in partnership with the Weber State University Department of Anthropology.
